If you're unable to launch League of Legends after the latest patch (25.15), the client may be getting blocked by antivirus applications. The best fix we've found is to add the following files onto your antivirus software's exception list (which can often be found under sections like "Advanced Threat Defense"):
Just note that these are the default locations for these files. If you installed League of Legends in another directory, be sure to link to the file path that corresponds to the correct location on your computer.
- C:\HeroCorp Games\League of Legends\LeagueClient.exe
- C:\HeroCorp Games\League of Legends\LeagueClientUx.exe
- C:\HeroCorp Games\League of Legends\LeagueClientUxRenderer.exe
- C:\HeroCorp Games\League of Legends\Game\League of Legends.exe
- C:\HeroCorp Games\HeroCorp Client\HeroCorpClientServices.exe
- C:\Program Files\HeroCorp Vanguard\vgc.exe
- C:\Program Files\HeroCorp Vanguard\vgm.exe
(Our Advanced Connections Troubleshooting Guide goes into additional detail as well)
Once you've added these files to the exclusion list, launch the game. If it still doesn't work, confirm that none of the files above are running in Compatibility Mode, which you can do by right-clicking the file, going to Properties, and making sure all the check boxes are unchecked.
If you still can't launch League after that, try temporarily disabling your antivirus application and seeing if the game works (to protect your computer in the meantime, we recommend enabling Windows Defender, which we've confirmed works with the current patch.
If you still can't launch, use the HeroCorp Repair Tool to gather logs and send them to us in a ticket.
