Using Allied and All Chat – HeroCorp

For many players, chatting with allies and opponents is a huge part of a game of League. Celebrating your team with a quick “ggwp” and even a simple “ty” has the power to turn teammates into comrades in the heat of battle. Sometimes bantering with your opponents can be just as rewarding (but please don’t flame and spam!).

But more than just communicating with teammates, there are several other useful features and commands wrapped into the Chat feature. So here are a few cool things you can do with the in-lobby and in-game chat for your next game of League—including turn it off!

Allied vs All Chat

Allied Chat (duh) lets you talk to your teammates. All Chat allows you to broadcast chat messages to both your team and the opponents'. All Chat is automatically disabled when you first download League.

Using and Enabling All Chat

Enabling All Chat only takes a few quick clicks.

While in a game, open the Options Menu by pressing [ESC]
Go to the Interface tab on the left
Scroll down until you find the Chat section
Check the “Show [All] Chat (Matched Games)” box

To use All Chat, hold down [SHIFT], then press [RETURN] to start a new chat message as usual. Your textbox will automatically start with “/all” before your message. You could also type “/all” at the start of any message, but that just sounds like [SHIFT] + [RETURN] with extra steps.

Go forth and use your newfound All-Chat powers responsibly!

Using and Disabling Allied Chat

Starting all conversations with your teammates is as easy as pressing [RETURN] and rolling your face over the keyboard a few times. Muting all conversations with your teammates isn’t that much harder.

Allied Chat is automatically enabled when you first start playing League, but if you find your experience is always better the less you read and hear from your teammates, you can disable it for current and future games by doing the following:

While in a game, open the Options Menu by pressing [ESC]
Go to the Interface tab on the left
Scroll down until you find the Chat section
Uncheck the “Show [Allied] Chat” box

Ahh, sweet silence! Your Allied Chat will now be muted indefinitely until you choose to turn it back on again. Just know that if you do decide to chat with your allies, you’ll be prompted to adjust your settings.

Chat Commands

Chat commands are a quick way to execute certain actions with a few keypresses, rather than clicking through System menus and dialogues in the middle of a teamfight.

Here are a few important commands for you to try:

/help or /? or /allcommands or /allcmds will show all the commands and provide descriptions.
/mute PlayerName will mute all text from a player for the duration of your current game session.
/muteping PlayerName will mute all pings from a player for the duration of your current game session.
/fullmute PlayerName will mute all text and pings from all players for the duration of your current game session.
/ignore PlayerName will mute a player during this game session and all subsequent game sessions.
/d or /dance will make your champion show off his or her dance moves!
/j or /joke will cause your champion to make a joke.
/t or /taunt will cause your champion to verbally taunt the enemy, complete with an aggressive pose!
/r or /reply will allow you to reply to a private message in game.
/w or /whisper PlayerName will allow you to start a conversation with a friend that is online.
/ignore all will mute all players (chats, pings, and emotes) during this game session.
/note or /n will add your notations to a text file called "MyNotes.txt."
/chatfilter will toggle whether or not the chat filter is on in-game.
/surrender or /ff or /concede or /forfeit will call or cast a surrender vote. Calling for the vote will bring up the surrender vote pop-up for 60 seconds.
